The Grizzly House Banff

Welcome to Banff’s legendary spot for lovers and hedonists

The stories you’ve heard are true. Exotic meats, legendary fondue, and a dining room where hedonists have been raising glasses — and eyebrows — for decades.

Since 1967, The Grizzly House has been one of Banff’s most legendary dining experiences, a place where bubbling fondue, sizzling hot rocks, and just the right amount of mischief have brought people together for generations. What began as a disco era fondue den with a decidedly hedonistic streak has grown into a true Banff institution, welcoming locals, visitors, lovers, and the simply curious for a night that rarely ends early.

Dinner here is never rushed. You cook your meat on a hot rock at your table. You dip into rich classic Swiss cheese fondue. You linger over chocolate and a second bottle of wine. The menu ranges from classic cuts to Canadian game like bison and elk, offering bold options for the adventurous and familiar comforts for those who simply want a legendary meal done right.

And yes, there are phones at every table. Most of them still work… which is part of the fun. Originally installed during our wilder disco days, they encouraged guests to connect, flirt, and meet across the room. Today they remain one of our most beloved traditions, a playful reminder that dinner is meant to be shared, conversations are meant to spark, and a little spontaneity never hurt anyone.
